A Growing Community

Our community is growing! Not everyone is a part of Table Church, some are connected through the Homeschool Co-op. But we are seeing our friends increase and gospel opportunities become more prevalent. In it all we are aiming to create authentic connection with others.
We are all such escape artists, you and I. We don't like to get too serious about things, especially ourselves. When we are with other people, we are apt to talk about almost anything under the sun except for what really matters to us, except for our own lives, except for what is going on inside our own skins. We pass the time of day. We chatter. We hold each other at bay, keep our distance from each other even when God knows it is precisely each other that we desperately need. (Frederick Buechner, A Room Called Remember)
This reality is the very thing we are trying to avoid at Table Church. We are actively seeking to build a community of depth. We are praying, praising, and confessing our sins every Wednesday night. We are soaking our hearts in the gospel truth every Sunday through the preached word and the enacted meal. God is doing a work here and the fruit of our labor is already happening. We have been SO encouraged by what God has done in the heart of one of our friends in particular. Here's her testimony that she shared with the church just a few Sundays ago. Rejoice with us and give praise to God!
Good Fun with Community Activity
One of our values is to be a blessing to the city. To do this, we provide outlets for kids and parents to gather, learn, hang out and have fun! Within all of these communal events the mission of the gospel remains central and we actively engage in gospel conversations. Below is a highlight reel of the community activities currently underway or that have recently happened. In list form from the last two months...
Flag Football Clinic
Homeschool Co-op
Camping Trip
Family Prayer Night
Theology Brew (a guys hangout to discuss theology and life)
WordPartners Workshop
Family Highlights
As a family we've had some highlights from the past couple months. Aside from the occasional visits to beaches and waterfalls, which is just what you do on your day off when you live in Puerto Rico, we've had a couple "first time" events.
Zion, Josiah and I were able to go to a Switchfoot concert in San Juan! It was the kids first time at a concert, my first time watching Switchfoot live, and Switchfoot's first time in Puerto Rico. We had a great time!
Zion is now 15 for the first time. As it turns out, it will end up being her only time to be this age.
Josiah is aiming to startup a lawn care business, so he's attempting his first entrepreneurial endeavor.
Prayer Requests
Pray that we find a building or rental space to gather. We have officially outgrown our house and the parking area in the neighboring lot. Every Sunday for the last 4 weeks has been very full. Praise God! However, we need to find a space and it needs to happen fairly quickly. This is are most pressing need as Easter approaches.
Pray for our family's strength and endurance. We desire to remain abiding in Christ through this process of church planting. It is apparent to us every day that we are desperately dependent on him.
Pray that more testimonies like Melina's would flourish here. We want the gospel light to overcome the darkness! We live each day knowing the power of Jesus is greater than our enemy!
